A quarterback for the New Orleans Saints has received a six-game suspension by the NFL ahead of Week 1.
The Saints are preparing to take on the Tennessee Titans for their Week 1 matchup Sunday. They’ll do so without their rookie quarterback.
According to Brooke Kirchhofer with NOF Network, the NFL released a statement that rookie quarterback Jake Haener received a six-game suspension:

“Jake Haener of the Saints has been suspended without pay for the first six games of the 2023 regular season for violating the NFL Policy on Performance-Enhancing Substances.
Haener will be eligible to return to the Saints' active roster on Monday, Oct. 16”

Haener was drafted by the Saints in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Haener is listed as the fourth-string quarterback on the Saints roster behind Derek Carr, Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill. Haener will have another six weeks to learn the offense before he can be activated again.
