The Timberwolves are re-signing small forward Matt Ryan on a two-way contract, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Ryan, 26, is 6-foot-7 and started last season with the Lakers, burying a game-winning shot, before being waived in December. He signed a two-way deal with the Timberwolves about a week later.

In 34 games overall, he averaged 3.6 points and shot 38 percent on 3-pointers. He also appeared in seven games with the G League’s Iowa Wolves, averaging 19.0 points.

Ryan becomes the Timberwolves’ third two-way player, joining center Luka Garza and shooting guard Jaylen Clark. Teams are permitted to carry three this season.

Ryan has also spent time with the Celtics, appearing in one game in 2021-22. He played college ball at Vanderbilt, Notre Dame and Chattanooga and hails from New Rochelle, N.Y.
