^ That guy, aka THETHOROBRED (because having your Twitter name in all caps make you important). Cole Hamels was in trying to finish off his best start since the 2008 postseason when this guy tweeted the following:
As Cole entered his windup to throw the first pitch of the 9th, the home plate umpire called time. When you saw the people behind the plate stand up, you know what was going on. Well that and Wheels losing his mind in Eskin style calling the guy an idiot and a dope. After the guy was removed from the "feild," the game resumed only to have Cole give up two doubles that tied the game and ended his night. We all know Cole is a very fragile person and the idiot clearly messed up his rhythm causing him to lose a possible complete game shutout. News came out after the game that the guy had drugs in his pocket as he ran on the field.
Monday night's fan-on-the-field incident was funny. It was the first time, at least for me, that I've ever seen a fan tasered on the field. The pictures of the cop aiming the taser at the kid are great and one of them is even my desktop wallpaper. He wasn't drunk or high, he was just acting stupid. The guy last night however was not funny. He did it hoping to make the national news like the first one did. Boston had a break in one of the major water pipes making water unsafe to drink in the city and many areas beyond the city yet the most viewed story on Boston.com was the Phillies fan who got tased. Hopefully this is the end of running on the field. I'm worried that with the game on ESPN tonight, someone may go for the hat trick.
